2018

• REACH grant received
  

  • $3.4 Million awarded to Healthy Savannah and the YMCA of Coastal GA through the Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health Grant. A portion of this award is put toward the Friends of Tide to Town and efforts to increase Activity Friendly Routes to Everyday Destinations, specifically for low wealth African Americans.

  • Tide To Town’s REACH Team identified and prioritized 10 neighborhoods within the City of Savannah in which efforts to improve connectivity could be concentrated.

2019

• Presentations made to Chatham County Commission and City of Savannah City Council on the REACH grant and Tide To Town.

• Tide to Town board works with W Projects to create and finalize a new Tide To Town logo.

• $1 million allocated from SPLOST for Tide to Town.

• CDC site visit to future location of Tide to Town on the westside off Louisville Road.

• Where will Tide to Town take you? video premiered at Healthy Savannah Annual Meeting.

• Truman Linear Park Trail opens on Nov. 19.

• Quarterly "Love Your Trail Day" trail clean-up events begin.

• Camellia bush planting plan near Magnolia Park introduced by Dr. Sydney Smith and Don Waters.
  Tide To Town rendering created to show potential outcome for a future corridor on the west side of Savannah as it is intersected with the Tide To Town Trail.

• Wheaton Street bike lane striped.
  Georgia Tech students work with Tide To Town board members to complete a Health Impact Assessment for the Tide To Town trail

• REACH Team and Barge Design complete work on the development of a new walking and biking neighborhood audit app, a critical component to the “Activity Friendly Routes to Everyday Destinations Plan” intended to improve connectivity of our prioritized neighborhoods.

2020

• Coordination with state and local government and other community agencies.
  

  • Hosted tour of future Springfield Canal trail with coastal coordinator for Sen. Raphael Warnock.

  • Coordinated the submission of a federal earmark for Tide To Town with Sen. Warnock.

  • Via video conference, updated Sen. Jon Ossoff's executive staff on the East Coast Greenway and Tide To Town.

  • Met with Coastal Region Metropolitan Planning Organization staff to ensure that their Non-Motorized Transportation Plan projects list coded all Tide To Town-related projects as such

  • Ensured that Tide To Town was included in relevant public media and continuously updated local media organizations on our progress.

2021

• Community events organized with Edgemere Sackville neighborhood, partnering with volunteers and community members to complete a full walking and biking audit of the neighborhood as a part of the Activity Friendly Routes to Everyday Destinations Plan.

• Reconstructed Police Memorial Trail set to re-open

2022-2024

• Ensured that Tide to Town was included in planning and programming, including Hotel Motel Tax, CORE MPO Planning Efforts, City of Savannah, Chatham County, and other municipalities.

• Continued community engagement work through the REACH grant.

2025

• Construction began on Phase IIB of the Truman Linear PArk Trail

2026

• Phase IIB of Truman Linear Park Trail opens to the public
